American actress Sarah Paulson (born December 17, 1974) initiated her performance career on stage before transitioning to television, where she featured in the series American Gothic (1995–96) and Jack & Jill (1999–2001). She subsequently took part in comedic films like What Women Want (2000) and Down with Love (2003), alongside dramatic projects such as Path to War (2002) and The Notorious Bettie Page (2005). Between 2006 and 2007, Paulson portrayed Harriet Hayes in the NBC comedy-drama Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, which earned her a nomination for a Golden Globe Award. In 2008, she was cast as Ellen Dolan in the superhero noir film The Spirit.
