Brazilian actress Taís Bianca Gama de Araújo (pronounced [taЛ€iК’ biЛ€ЙђМѓkЙђ Л€ЙЎЙђМѓmЙђ dК’i aЙѕaЛ€uК’u] or simply [taЛ€iz aЙѕaЛ€uК’u], born on November 25, 1978, in Rio de Janeiro) is recognized for her contributions to Brazilian television. She made history as the first Black Brazilian actress to take on a leading role in a telenovela, starring in Xica da Silva (1996) on Rede Manchete. Additionally, she played a lead character in another popular telenovela, Da Cor do Pecado (2004), aired on the Rede Globo network.

Araújo's heritage includes African, Austrian, and Portuguese roots. She noted that the diversity of skin tones within her family did not draw her attention; however, she remarked that during her time at an elite school, she was often the sole Black student and observed that those who resembled her were typically employed as domestic staff.

She became the first Black actress to headline a prime-time telenovela on Brazil's largest television channel, Rede Globo. Her role in Viver a Vida positioned her as a central figure in this production. Araújo expressed the significance of representation by stating: "As a child, I had no images that reflected me! Now young Black girls can see themselves represented on screen and recognized as standards of beauty."
