American comedian, actress, writer, and producer Elizabeth Stamatina "Tina" Fey (born May 18, 1970) is recognized for her contributions to the NBC sketch show Saturday Night Live (1998–present), particularly for her impersonation of Sarah Palin, former Governor of Alaska and Vice-Presidential candidate in 2008. She created the highly regarded series 30 Rock (2006–2013) and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (2015–ongoing). Additionally, she co-wrote and starred in the film Mean Girls (2004) and appeared in movies such as Baby Mama (2008), Date Night (2010), Muppets Most Wanted (2014), and Sisters (2015).

Fey began her comedy career as a performer with The Second City improvisational group in Chicago. She subsequently became a writer for SNL, advancing to head writer while also performing as co-anchor on Weekend Update. In 2004, she wrote and co-starred in Mean Girls, which was based on the self-help book Queen Bees and Wannabes from 2002. After departing from SNL in 2006, she developed the sitcom 30 Rock for Broadway Video—a narrative inspired by her tenure at SNL—where she plays the lead writer of a fictional sketch comedy program. In 2008, Fey appeared alongside Amy Poehler in Baby Mama. She later featured in Date Night released in 2010 as well as Megamind’s animated cast. In 2015, Fey produced Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt for NBC before it transitioned to Netflix distribution. Her filmography also includes Sisters and Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.

Fey has earned nine Emmy Awards along with two Golden Globe Awards, five Screen Actors Guild Awards, and four Writers Guild of America Awards throughout her career. Her memoir Bossypants achieved five weeks atop The New York Times Best Seller list. In recognition of her satirical work portraying Sarah Palin during an SNL guest appearance in 2008, Fey received the AP Entertainer of the Year honor from Associated Press. Furthermore, she was presented with the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in 2010 at an unprecedented young age among recipients of this award. On January 13, 2013, Fey co-hosted the prestigious Golden Globe Awards alongside longtime friend Amy Poehler to positive reviews; they continued this partnership for two subsequent years resulting in record-high viewership ratings.
