American singer-songwriter Tinashe Jorgenson Kachingwe (born February 6, 1993) is also a dancer, actress, former model, and record producer. She initiated her career in the entertainment industry at three years old through modeling and acting. In 2012, Tinashe released two well-received mixtapes, In Case We Die and Reverie, both produced in her home studio. Following these projects, she joined RCA Records. Her third mixtape, Black Water, was unveiled in 2013. The lead single "2 On" achieved the top position on the Rhythmic airplay chart and reached number 24 on the US Billboard Hot 100. Her first studio album Aquarius debuted in 2014 and was recognized by music reviewers as a strong start for a new female artist. In 2014, she received a nomination for a Soul Train Award and was nominated for "Best New Artist" at the BET Awards in 2015.

Tinashe made her acting debut with the television movie Cora Unashamed in 2000. She appeared alongside Tom Hanks in the successful film The Polar Express released in 2004, where she provided motion capture for the main female character. Between 2008 and 2009, Tinashe held a recurring role as Celeste on the American sitcom Two and a Half Men.
