American singer-songwriter Tori Amos (born Myra Ellen Amos on August 22, 1963) is also a pianist and composer. She possesses classical training and has a mezzo-soprano vocal range.

Amos began creating instrumental compositions at the piano early in life, earning a full scholarship to the Peabody Institute at Johns Hopkins University by age five, making her the youngest individual admitted to the program. At eleven, she was dismissed due to what Rolling Stone referred to as "musical insubordination." Initially, she was the frontwoman for the brief 1980s pop band Y Kant Tori Read before gaining prominence as a solo performer in the early 1990s. Her music addresses various themes such as sexuality, feminism, politics, and spirituality.
