American actress Theresa Lynn Russell (born March 20, 1957) began her cinematic journey with a role in The Last Tycoon (1976), directed by Elia Kazan. This was followed by a prominent performance alongside Dustin Hoffman in Straight Time (1978). She then took part in Nicolas Roeg's provocative thriller Bad Timing (1980), which received critical acclaim. After her marriage to Roeg in 1982, she featured in several of his films, primarily within the arthouse and experimental genres, including Eureka (1983), Insignificance (1985), and Cold Heaven (1991).

After leading roles in the contentious films Whore and Steven Soderbergh’s Kafka (both released in 1991), Russell appeared in the commercially successful thriller Wild Things (1998) and starred in the highly regarded drama The Believer (2001). In the late 2000s, she participated in HBO’s miniseries Empire Falls (2005) and took on a supporting role in Spider-Man 3 (2007).
