Bulgarian tennis player Tsvetana Pironkova (Bulgarian: Цветана Кирилова РџРёСЂРѕРЅРєPеЛ€ [tsvЙ›Л€tana pirЙ”nЛ€kЙ”va]) was born on September 13, 1987, and currently holds the position of the top Bulgarian in the WTA rankings. She is a right-handed competitor who utilizes a two-handed backhand technique. Growing up in Plovdiv, she began her tennis journey at four years old after being introduced to the sport by her father, who later served as her coach. After competing at junior levels and securing victory in the Atlantic Cup, she entered senior international tournaments in 2002 within the International Tennis Federation circuit. In her early career stages, Pironkova claimed six singles titles on the ITF circuit.
