English actress Enid Diana Elizabeth Rigg, DBE (born 20 July 1938), is recognized for her role as Emma Peel in the 1960s television series The Avengers and for portraying Olenna Tyrell in Game of Thrones, as well as Sutton in You, Me and the Apocalypse. Her career spans film and theater, including her portrayal of Medea both in London and New York, which earned her the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play in 1994. She was appointed CBE in 1988 and honored as a Dame in 1994.

Rigg began her professional stage career with The Caucasian Chalk Circle in 1957 and became part of the Royal Shakespeare Company by 1959. She made her debut on Broadway with Abelard & Heloise in 1971. Her film appearances include Helena from A Midsummer Night's Dream (1968); Countess Teresa di Vicenzo, James Bond's wife, from On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969); Lady Holiday from The Great Muppet Caper (1981); and Arlene Marshall from Evil Under the Sun (1982). She received a BAFTA TV Award for Best Actress for her performance in the BBC miniseries Mother Love (1989) and an Emmy Award for portraying Mrs. Danvers in the 1997 adaptation of Rebecca. In 2013, she appeared alongside her daughter Rachel Stirling—marking their first collaborative appearance—in an episode titled The Crimson Horror of the popular BBC series Doctor Who.
