Conger previously enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Hill AFB in Utah as well as Scott Air Force Base, located near St. Louis. She pursued her nursing education at Southern Illinois University across the Edwardsville and Carbondale campuses, graduating with honors.
